UKSMG Summer Contest Results 2014

The 2014 UKSMG Summer Contest Results are now available and may be found below. Many thanks to all that sent in entries and check logs this year and congratulations to the section winners. It seems that this years contest saw better conditions than last year and consequentially we have a few more entrants. There were however far more participants than entrants which is a pity. I'd love to receive your logs even only if you have worked just a handful of stations, it doesn't matter. It provides me with a check log I can use to verify other logs and it's nice to see your entry up in the tables, you'd be surprised how high up the tables you could have got if only you had submitted your log. And while on the subject, I'm happy to receive check logs, but why not submit an entry anyway you have absolutely nothing to loose. I've made a few changes to the tables, this year sees the first table that's system generated rather than manually created. This gives a much cleaner and consistent appearance and reduces delays in updating. This year, for the first time we had a "Claimed Score Table". From now on this table will be automatically updated from your log submission using our on line log submission form, so you can see how well you think you have done right away. I hope you like these small improvements I'll endeavour to make more as time goes by. So thank you for supporting our contest, I hope to see you again next year.

Checklogs:

Checklogs received with thanks from G8HGN, I7CSB, N8XA/P and US0LW.

Ian, G4TSW
281 QSOs - our score is a very rough calculation from our log - Best DX from IO80 was 4X6KA - we were kept busy right to the end.
Steve, MW5A/P
As usual CW Field Day was great fun, but this year we took a different relaxed approach and combined NFD with the UKSMG 6 Metre contest. We chose a good VHF location rather than our usual choice of good HF/LF location near the sea and limited our NFD entry to 20m and ended up with around 850 net QSOs. For the UKSMG contest we made 184 QSOs. We used Steve GW4BLE's UKSMG membership number in the exchange. The weather was mostly good throughout the weekend, the exception was setting up and breaking down, when it poured with rain! Some great pictures on the website of Nigel G3TXF, (this link)
Stewart, G0LGS
Slow going again, but band picked up towards the end.
Norman, 5B4AIE
Had to wait for a while for the band to open 14:27 then closed at 17:54. 06:24 before anyone was worked then closed at 08:09 for 3 hours then back with some stations at 11:09 until the end. TS-590S 5 element Vinecom antenna same as previous years. better than the 6 qsos worked last year. Thanks to all who worked me, some poor conditions at times. 73 Norman.
John, 9H1XT
Short participation as year as I could not operate on Sunday. Enjoyed just the same.
Tamas, HA5PT
The propagation was much better than last year and the weather was just perfect here. Thank you for all QSOs and organizing Summer Es contest. See you in 2015!
Tony, G8ONK
Better than last year, very quiet during night, few UK stations active.
Ralf, 4X1IF
Conditions were extremely harsh in the Holy Land on Saturday, June 7th, but improved somewhat on Sunday morning.
Dave, G8FXM
Made a guest appearance only this year due to personal commitments. Conditions seems much better than previous years from IO91.
PE2REH
Was fun, best 73.
Roland, DL2OM
It was hard work to collect 82 stations within 6 hours on Sunday morning. Es spots were not favorably positioned for JO30. Bad luck. Anyway I made the best of it.
Roger, 2E0BMO
Variable ES in this area when it arrived. Few UK STNS active.
Lionel, F1UJS
Lazy contest...less than 1h30 on the air....
David, G8ZRE
This contest hard to score. Good number of DX stations worked
Mike, I7CSB
Sorry, only few minutes on, please use it as control log. 73
