Conditions for the contest were pretty dire, owing to other commitments I could only operate in short bursts after 17.00 Saturday. Most of the time the whole band was empty, CQ ing for 1.5 Hrs went unanswered, could not raise GM,GD,GI or GW despite beaming their way. The Sp E came and went in a few seconds, or was it aircraft reflection. Total points estimate is only 12,873 73 Tony G8ONK |

Conditions in the Holy Land were the worst ever! Hopefully, next year we'll have better ES band opening. Thanks, Ralph, 4X1IF |

Very little Es this time, with only one short opening on Saturday and although the band was open towards parts of Ital for a significant time on Sunday very few stations were heard, our overall score reflects this. We lost power for around 2 hours just after start of contest, backup power took over an hour to arrange. A few stations reported that they were members, but did not know their membership number at the time of contact (inc G3VYF and G4RRA). G4CXT/P gave only IO82 as his locator at the time of contact, but stated when asked that he was near Coleford, locator changed (after event) to IO81QT based on map to enable accurate score to be calculated. |

Band opened at 1437 for sq6plh who was loud, nearly an hour later I got into Europe. Band stayed open until 18:27 then that was it not even 100 qso's. I was already to go for Sunday but nothing until 06:45 IF9 07:10 5B 09:20 LZ 09:43 YU then all I got was silence for the rest of the contest. Could not believe I sat there all day Cqing for 5 qso's, I must of been mad. I won't say I did not enjoy it but disappointed only 2 Uk stations and very few UKSMG members. TS-590s with 5 element from Vinecom and TE systems 0552G with preamp, without preamp I would of missed so many qso's 73 Norman member 2348 |

Yet again, virtually no Es. This contest needs to be later in the Es season! |

Weather was really cold for June only 5C when packing up - not very pleasant to be /P. Very little Es too apart from two short openings. Activity tailed off late afternoon, so did not stay for last 1 hr of our 6 hr session. N1MM logger however was by far the worst feature of the day - t was the the first time used and it will certainly be the last time too!- not at all iterative. Hopefully be back next year without the logger program. |

Conditions were poor and we almost gave up, however we lived in hope of an opening, which never really happened. NORFOLK ARC - G4ANT (G0DWV, 2E0GOL, 2E0LJG, G7SQW) |

Only learned about SMG Contest while travelling to Rathlin Island to participate in CW Field Day as GI0AAA/p. Diverted to Coleraine in order to buy a 4-el 6m beam from Peter MM0CIB. The 6m beam was installed at about 30ft asl on the South East tip of Rathlin, right by the sea. 6m conditions sounded very poor. Hardly heard anyone at all. Made just seven QSOs using a Kenwood TS950 on CW. Did hear 5H3EE calling CQ on CW, but he couldn't hear me. Including the SMG Membership number makes the contest exchange pretty cumbersome. The "Scoring" section in the rules is somewhat confusing. The term "Total Points" in the formula (under Scoring on the SMG web page) should read "Total Distance Points". 73 - Nigel G3TXF |

Thanks for the feedback Nigel. I have updated the text in the Rules page to read "Total Distance Points"as you suggested. |
