The RealAudio server is up and running at my ISP so the feed is now 24 hours a day!
Please send me your 5 - 15 minute recordings and I will put them up on the site - no more
waiting for files to download. The live 50.110 feed is from there as well so I have
increased the quality to 8k/bits encoding and can take 60 simultaneous feeds! The FT-650
will only be turned on at weekends for the time being. Chris

Greetings all. I would like to let everyone know that I will be in FL16 at the house
from 7/10 - 8/1. I will have the radio on all the time. Hopefully we can make some QSOs
although no success in the past. Bill, C6AGN seems to have much more success than I. He is
my neighbor over on Green Turtle Cay. The beacon, C6AFP on 50062, was booming into the US
on several occasions this winter. It is running one watt to Ringo Ranger. Thanks to John,

Beacon heard at 0840z and propagation until after 1100z. Impossible to work anyone as
P29 and JA QRM on 50.110 from 1045z to after 1115z rendered it impossible to work the weak
signal path. The JA's involved and P29KFS should have known better. P29 could hardly be
regarded as rare DX in JA and tying up the call channel was unaccepatbel and unfair to
other operators trying to make a dx call under weak signal conditions. Cut it out !

Steve! Welcome back home, and you will certainly agree that the band is a bit busier
Down Under than in KL7-Alaska. Now you have a feeling of how we spend our Winters up here
in Scandinavia......Stacking at 0.6 lambda really gives near 3 dB extra gain with short
yagi's, and far less rotational torque than one single long yagi with equal gain.... You
can also stack a couple of long yagi's preferably at 1.2-1.4 lambda separation, but
indeed, you are right: don't be surprised to find them blown down on the ground one day.
Stacks are excellent for cutting close-in man-made noise....Everyone should build
according to his needs.... First VK-OH 50 MHz of this cycle is near. 73, Zaba

Re stacking, sorry but I disgree that stacking small yagis does anything except produce
the tendency for them to be blown down. It was not until the advent of long signle boom
yagis that any progress was made in distances worked from VK and eme contacts. Jimmy W6JKV
with a lareg stacked array has just erected a single 20 meter boom 11 el yagi and has just
contacted K6MYC via two way eme. Compared with the hassles of stcked beams, in my opinion,
a single yagi makes good and simple sense. My single M2 continues to rpovide outstanding
performance and opportunities to work TE DX even though being 1500 kM outside the TE zone.
And the 11 el is 3db up on the current 9 I am using here and I intend to retrieve my 11 el
from my old house and erect it out here at VK3SIX 73 Steve

Steve KL7FZ reports the VK3SIX beacon in to BP51 daily at up to 599 around 2200z to
2400z indicating an F2 path is developing. In answer to VK3ALM, unlike VK's most US
stations observe the no QSO zone around 50.110 and it is best to call on 50.125 Mhz to
avoid the situation like I experienced yesterday, having to compete with 599 signals into
JA on 50.110 from VK4 when VK3 signals were scatter mode 529. JA1RJU was the only JA with
the courtesy to move the VK4's off 50.110 after hooking up, just check the JA cluster to
see the number of two way QSO's being carried out on 50.110 between VK8 and VK4 to JA.

David, VK3EW, was asking about the CC yagi's. David, I do not know any details about
the CC-yagi's, but as far as stacking goes, it is best to have it around 360 cm (12 ft)
with a 10% margin. This is valid for all short boom yagi's (and even for some longer
ones)... Sometimes you can get a little more gain with wider stacking, but on receive you
will lose any advantage by noise pick-up from the growing side-lobes (why take 0.3 dB more
gain and 3 dB more noise?)... Stacking makes a huge difference, though... Good luck &

LONGPATH JA-Caribbean was meant in the previous message. Check the realtime MUF-map to
estimate 50 MHz TEP: http://solar.uleth.ca/solar/www/realtime.html The MUF values
indicated are for traditional one-hop geometries. TEP (up to > 200 MHz) occurs when
there is a MUF-depletion (say 25 MHz) near the geomagnetic equator, and e.g. 35 MHz MUF's
on both North and South sides of this. Remember however, that "realtime" is not
based on REAL measurements, so that these TEP conditions occur far more often than
calculated from the ideal model (due to tilts & gradients). There is more needed than
just the TEP, which makes it complicated. A few hours after Caribbean sunrise is good for
OC/Asia LP on 50MHz. Good luck & 73, Zaba OH1ZAA

Re the KH7R worked here, it was in BL01 Hawaii not KH7 Kure and is a result of the FCC
plan to issue KH7 calls to KH6 ops. The ensuing dogpiles on HF suggest that some of the
KH7 calls are cashing in on the belief that people think they are on Kure island when in
fact they are plain old B&B KH6's. It is catching out new chums and old timers all the
time and you have to hear the JA dogpiles on KH7's on HF to believe that people could be
so fooled. WFWL de Steve

Spoke with CT3FT on 17m today. He has been receiving the ZD8 beacon every evening for
the past 3 weeks at 59++, with extensions down to PY etc, some evenings. Last night saw
7Q7SIX at 59+, but no Ron. Alan's Beacon (3C5I) is also being heard on a regular basis.

Yes . This IK8DYD character is very wel known or let i say notorious. Ask other HAM's
how he is behaving during contests!! It's time that we all put an embargo on him!
