27/5/97: RMVI QRV JUNE: My FT-650 is available for the OH5AB/MVI, R1MVI expedition of this June 1997. I will personally deliver it at OH5AB for inclusion with the group. I have not been in contact with the organizers to find out about the present license, but the rig will be anyway available. Let's hope that the 50 MHz band is already included at least in the MVI-license....de OH1ZAA (source: GJ4ICD)

Barbados activity. I will activate Barbados (8P6) during my holiday from July 3rd to July 16th. At this moment I have a firm commitment at hand from the Telecommunication unit of the Ministry of International Trade & Business of Barbados, which says that a guest license will be issued to me upon arrival. This activity is not a 100% DXpedition, but a side activity to my holiday. Emphasis will be given to 50 MHz and WARC bands. (HF CW only) Equipment consists of an IC-706MKII, 4 el. 50 MHz yagi and wire antennas for HF. Location: near Holetown on the West coast of Barbados (this might cause a problem towards Europe as it looks there is a hill in the way ...).

On Internet Six News last jear ther was an announcement for the modification of the Icom IC-706 to activate the transmitter in the 70 Mhz band. It was announced to be published in Ham Radio Today somwere in 1996. I like to know: Is this modification completed? Is this article published? Has anybody some information/documentation of this mod? Isn't it great when a plan comes together! Ezzat, SU1ER, worked many stations this evening - including many Gs (and myself). He was a good siganl so it won't be too long before he works everyone! 7Z next. 73 chris

TRANSATLANTIC Es PATH..............Have any Europeans copied anything on 10m or above yet on this path? We (here in the NE) are way overdue for hearing something from eh8,cu1,zb2,ct3,ct0/b,etc. Usually by late in the second week in May we've heard at least "something" from across the pond, or close to all the way across the pond. Very strange~~~~~ -Mike/ve9aa

Thanks to the efforts and considerable expense of Ron Stone (Vine Antennas), I now have a six metre 5/8 vertical. Unfortunately, at the moment my only transmit option is transverted 2m FM. Until I can get a multi-mode, I will listen on the band and report who (if anybody) I hear. Regards to all.

Greetings to my UKSMG friends and family! During the June VHF contest, I will be Rover in grid squares EN71,EN72, EN81 and EN82. I'm hoping for a little action with my friends across the pond. I'll be running 100 watts into a squalo. Not a big station on the road, but adequete, if the band opens nicely. Look for me between 50.125 - 50.150 unless we do get a nice one, in which case I'll look for you where ever you are. Been a slow spring E season so far (5/15/97), but perhaps a really busy summer is ahead. Best 73, and have fun in the contest, Dave N8NQS EN72 400W -> 6 el @ 40'

UKSMG for all of the hard work that you
have done in getting Ezzat on the air. I know that most of us vicariously
shared in Ezzat's thrill of his first QSO on the magic band.

It sure is great that this hobby of ours can break down international
borders and unite us in a positive cause.

You can be sure that Ezzat's accomplisments and your work will be mentioned
in my column in CQ magazine.

Keep up the great work, Chris.

Hello VHF FRIENDS: As most of you know I will be in the Bahamas FL16 from June 5 through June 19, 1997.  Main purpose is to work as many first time stations as possible to give them the Bahamas. Also to work the VHF Contest. Last year I had a few complaints about working below 50.125. My problem is, if I don't, stations in Europe and the US West Coast will most likely not be able to find me because of State side QRM. So I would like to hear from West Coast and European stations on where you want to work me at. At this time I was planning to be back on 50.123 or 50.122 so it would leave 50.120 through 50.100 clear for the East coast and others to look for more rare DX. Its hard to please everybody. I still have many spots left for skeds on two meters . Please E-Mail if you would like one. QSL info.. Send a sase to 1930 Meredith Ln. Loveland Ohio. 45140-7216 USA.  Out side US send sae and 1 irc. V E 9 M S / B **new QRG** NOW ON 50.065.2MHz 1 watt, FSK. It has been running about a week now without problems. (except a power outage) so now efforts are underway by myself to uncrease the ERP. John/ve6xt has graciously donated a 50w PA for the unit which is already enroute from VE6/ALberta. Hopefully this can be made to work with the 1 watt unit, and we can have a reliable beacon from here in the NE. For those of you that asked, VE1PZ is making some headway on the VE1PZ/b unit again and "hopes" to have it QRV sometime this summer. -no guarantees-but he'll try. The keyer on the VE9MS/b has gone back to the old n' reliable one. It sends "-------- ve9ms b ------------" (long DASH, not dashes) The 10m is still on 28.299.7MHZ and I am working in conjunction with ve6xt to revive the 2m unit, which is usually on or about 144.299.7MHz +/-...........73 all, and thanks especially to gj4icd & ve6xt for their efforts in this project! -MIKE
