Just heard on 50.101 cw "VVV de CY9AA ". Burst
lasted about 3-4 seconds. Frantic calls from me brought no
response. Was this the real thing ? Time 22.11 utc.

Chris: I am going crazy trying to get packed and leave HZ
at the moment. I'm afraid I'm leaving on Thursday and won't
return until September 2. If there's a chance of some fall
propagation between us, let's resume the conversation then.
Otherwise, I'll monitor 50.110 tomorrow and that's about it for
now. Mike.

Wkd J6/W6JKV at 15.45z, 559 into JO21. Still audible now
(16.11z, 529). Great operation ! I hope to have similar
propagation when I will be on Barbados from July 3rd onwards ...
A pity Jimmy is not QRV from J7 or J8 though ... (well you can't
have it all, can you ?) Cheers everybody and good luck on 6. --

For over a year now I have been monitoring 6 meters almost
on a daily basis. Others have told me, and I am well aware, that
a contact on the 'Magic Band' with HZ ranks very high on many a
VHF DXers wish list. During May and June 1996, I was able to work
only three stations on 6. This season has been a bit better
with seventeen stations logged in the past month. I do the
best I can here considering that I am primarily an HF
operator. Here is my entire 6 meter log from 7Z5OO:

CO2KK needs information about SB110 Heathkit 50 mhz rig.
Especially modifications done all along the many years of life of
that rig that will improve its performance. I was able to revive
my SB110 but at this moment it has poor sensitivity on receive
and drifts. also the keying is very chirpy .... Will appreciate
any help , especially via e-mail, as snail mail to the island is
extremely slow. I may be reached at the following e-mail address.

Its nice to be back home after 2 weeks in the Bahamas. This
year was a big let down compared to last year. Only about 600
QSOs on 6 meters. Heard EU Video 2 times but Know contacts. While
there I took Jerry Beckers beacon (WA8R} with me and install it
at Steve's home N4JQQ in FL16. The call is C6AFP. Its on 50.062
and I heard it off and on for 2 hours last night. It runs 1.5
watts to a 5/8 vertical at 25 feet. Please let me know if you
hear it. You might want to E-Mail Jerry and thank him for his
donation to the six meter cause. He also built the V44K and the
J3EOC beacon that myself WZ8D,WB8GEX, and WA8NJR install over the
last couple of years. Please let us know if you hear these
beacons. 73s John Jerry's e-mail jeryb@one.net

very long midnight shift and was welcomed with the dull drone
of EU VIDEO CARRIERS on 49.750/.730/.760 not moving the S-meter ,
but there! Time was 11:30utc. By 12:00 the signals had increased
enough to start to flicker S1 on my IC706. Scanned the band and
nothing to be heard. Time to start making some noise,so I put out
a call on 50.110 cw for EU. Right away heard someone very weak
return my call. After QRZing for several more minutes, finally
out of the noise OK2BGW. We fought the QSB and noise for several
minutes, but was never able to get his Grid locator. Another QRZ
and PA3BFM came back immediately. Frank had a nice signal and we
completed my first BONIFIDE 6m QSO across the pond at 12:17utc!
Tried calling many more times up and down the band on both phone
and cw. Heard many part call signs, but nothing I could put
together to go with. The video is still there at this time
(14:00utc.) but not strong enough to support an opening. Also
hearing 48.250/.242 now as well so it's certainly possible for
great things to happen today yet. Keep a keen ear to the
band....I know I will Good luck all! Sleepless in Caribou Doug

T R A N S A T L A N T I C - Q S O ? Who will be the first
this year to make an ACTUAL QSO on 6m across the pond? I think
that this year more than ever we are all poised for that one
moment when someone works across the pond. Of course there are no
awards or prizes for doing it, but it will signal the start of
yet another great season of 6m nuts starting to work some real
DX! (more than 1 hop Es) More people are on 6m than ever before,
and are running near top-notch equipment (notice I said
"near") and the hype is mounting for some DX to be
worked. Here in the NE, we are WELL, WELL, overdue to work across
the pond, and I have seen a few false reports, hopeful reports,
and very few actual reports. Where is the "Es" ? We
don't know, but we are (collectively) watching. Let's use
28.885MHz and also
http://www.cybercomm.net/cgi-bin/cgiwrap/~slapshot/vhfprop.sh? to
help us liason and make LOTS of DX QSO's. Here's
hoping.............ve9aa fn65

was about 52 till 57 here. Worked him for a new one #119, at

GREAT, never saw so much linears on a fleamarked and than the
price, you don't believe it!!!!! US-op. are jealous with the many
country's to work on ES by us. My DXCC is comming soon, from 105
