Here the infos I just received from F5OGL : Christian FH/TU5AX sent all the documents about his activity in FH, to ARRL(DXCC 6 Metres) and RSGB (IOTA), many months ago. Christian is of course very surprised. In a few days, he will send a SECOND TIME, all the documents : Licence copy, plane tickets, main residence in FH receipt, a.s.o. He hopes the DXCC Desk will now take these documents into account. Georges F8OP

Hello, I´am one of the lucky 2000 Hams that got the special License for 6m in Germany. I´ve only a CEPT Class 2 license so my question is: In witch Country can I work on 6m with my Class 2 license? If I understand the CEPT TR61... than I can only operate above 144 MHz ? Right ? Please your comments. bye Oli Dg5dbv TS 690S with 4 Elm Yagi and 10Watts www.gottlob.org

Hi Mike re WAZ: Detailed report was sent to you. When I review the result of this cycle, only 22 zones were worked until the end of last year, but more 9 were worked this spring. Zone 7/9/14/15 were worked by F2 LP, and zone 20 was worked by F2 scatter. However, zone 14 (SM) was worked by multi-hop Es (?) last July, and zone 15 (SP) was worked by F2 scatter last November. Six meter is neither magic nor sic band, but vy hi-tech band. Shall we try more DX by high-tech?

Re Moscow: Tom, the other side of that coin is that like any hi-powered TV TX it provides a great early warning indicator, particularly for us lot over `ere! Moscow was reported many times last cycle preceeding an EU opening. But, I do sympathize. In-band crud received here from R1 channels with TE paths can be a pain although noise cancelling boxes such as the ANC-4 can prove to be effective. I look forward to hearing strong E2 video again soon!!!

ABOUT FH/TU5AX, I GUESS THEY NEED PAPERWORK THAT HIS OPERATION ON MAYOTTE IS LEGAL ON 6 METER DON'T NOW ABOUT OTHER BANDS MAYBE THEY ACCEPT THEM . SV9/G4VXE ON 6 METER DOESN'T COUNT EITHER, ON OTHER BANDS THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE CEPT IN SV,SV5,SV9 BUT 6 METER IS ONLY ALLOWED TO GREEKS, AND THERE MORE COUNTRIES WITH THE SAME RULES LIKE THIS ALL EA, IT'S A PITTY BUT THAT'S THE WAY IT IS.

FYI R1 TV commenced today down south Australia about 0330z and has extended into South Asia and Western Russia again at this time 0830z. By my poor (by today's standards) measuring equipment, I put the TV carriers in the eastern European area, but i will wait to see if anyone hears far eastern video before raising the balloon. I do confirm it is a series of TV carriers coming from 300 degrees give or take ten or so. Seems we now have to get sound cards and measure to the last Cycle (hertz) where as in the last cycle we worked EU DX after clearly id'ing TV video to 100 hertz. I am still waiting to hear if 49.7474 +/- from Moscow went up in smoke or no? I can't hear it tonight.

More additions to WAZ page, looks like maybe a start of 25 zones is possible, www.datafast.net.au/4217 link to rules now on. Judging by the 200 hits in past 24 hours it is going to be popular and a more level playing field as everyone will have one or two tough zones like 2 and 40 from here.

ref stacking yagis. you will find that about 10 feet 2 inches is best for noise nulls on youre yagis using booms up to about 8m long although actual stack gain will be less than you can get, there is a difference between stacking short and long booms, see g3sek article on this website, very informative and like a bible, it depends on whether you want out and out gain or low noise on receive, if you go wide on the stack you will start to get vertical lobes after going above .6 wave apart. the choice is yours, but i stick with the quiet receive qualities.

Hi everyone - just been reading the mail! Please take this as a reminder if not already mentioned. A group of German operators will be visiting 5V7 TOGO between Oct 3 -9. Besides operating on all the HF bands they will also take a 5el beam for 50 Mhz. Modes of operation are CW/SSB/RTTY. QSL Manager is DL7DF. From October 10-15 they will be in Burkina Faso XT2. Again, they wil try 6 metres on this trip. A Web Page has been set up - www.qsl.net/DL7DF. Good luck to you all - the XT2 sounds very tasty! David.

Yesterday 1st E-W F2 contact of the season, KP4EIT, 48 days earlier than last year. Beam heading was skewed, via the scatter path. NA and Caribe stns: look for Europe beaming West Africa between 1630-1830 Z. For EU stns, the scatter control line is somewhere between PY0S and West Africa. From my side EA/CT videos on BS are the best indicators when they are louder on that way than towards ZS/7Q. 73 gl

Well regarding the CQ zones it seems VE4DQ will be a difficult one to determine. As he is in EO92 he is at 52,1,5 latitude and 81,57,50 longitude (EO92aa). More to the northwest (EO92ww) he will be in 52,56,45 latitude and 80,7,30 longitude. At my map it shows the zone border line of zone 2. So anyone out there who knows? CE8 is in 12. Must say it's fun beeing bussy with this zones. Have fun,

Re Zone 2: VE2 is split between Zone 2 & 5, the northern part is Zone 2. For those lucky enough to work the recent VY0RR operation this summer, it is in the rarer Zone 2, as is Labrador VO2. Yup looks like as predicted WAZ will be a good leveller. Always has been on HF where even some of the US big guns need some zones on 160 and 80M thats why they established the plateau's to give some incentive. I would rate the first 6M WAZ above a 6M DXCC beacuse no one has a real advantage. I will scan in an A4 size map and post it on www.datafast.net.au/4217 today and like others still counting have 28 or so, its not over until the paperwork is done. Re Zone 2 the map shows VE2 and Labrador in Zone 2 but not those islands. VE4 Newfoundland etc are in Zone 5.

RE: Zone 2 (again!) I stand to be corrected but I am not too sure -ANY- of VE4 land is in Zone 2. Just northern VE2, VO2, and now VY0 (ex-eastern ve8) ........de VE9AA/VO2DX

ZONES: Well if I done it all correct and if FD46 is in 12 and VE4DQ (EO92) is in 02 I have 32 zones. Hard ones seems to me 01,18, 19,22,23,26,28 and 31. Those are the missing ones. From most I already found the QSL cards but have to surch for some W's. Best regards and 73,

re: Zone 2...Also there is VY0HL in Zone 2.(as well as the VE2KV and VO2AG. There have also been 2 expeditions in recent years by Europeans. DL-something last month and G8FC(think that was the call.) I am pretty sure there are a couple of other VE2's in Zone two, (whom I have worked on HF) and there are more VO2's also (on HF). Hopefully with the advent of popular "HF+6m rigs" you'll see more 6m activity. I know in VE1 and VE9-lands, there are probably 6-8 new ops just within the last year with radios just like this. FWIW I like Jimmy's idea of the most needed ZOne list. WE'll have to see if "CQ" implements such an award. 73 de VE9AA/VO2DX

It would be great if we could create "most needed" zone with some "% need" metric.....zone 2 could be an easy summer expedition...jimmy
