Very interesting this year many DX stations on the band best for me was JA JT as not worked these before on 6m A92 and ex8 was a short hop. Thanks to the new super low loss coax heard weak stations better. 64 members bagged thanks to them for the points. band stayed open much longer this year, band was opening and took first qso at 6 minutes past. band started dropping off at 1800 just italy about by 1818 band was closed for me. 425 qsos so far 0500 started cq and 1 local 5b called to start me off had a chat then band opened again JT0YPS EX8MLT then it was JA time great I had not worked any of these before on 6m MAGIC. Band dropping off just as contest finishing. This year IC-7400 lasted all contest without smoke pouring out of the top. 717 qsos later contest finished. 6 Element Cubex Quad performed well yet again. Thanks to all those from the UKSMG members that call me 100 watts goes along way with good propagation. Another good contest 73 Norman 5B4AIE |

Well done on getting N1MM set up for this contest! I used it yesterday and it worked flawlessly. I managed 119 QSOs 29DXCC and 39 members. Strangely I saw GMs spotted at various times thoughout the contest but could not hear any - not a squeek, then in the last 30 minutes I was called by at least 4! It is the Magic Band after all. Best DX probably 4X1IW who I heard working lots of others during the contest later and was only running 5watts. Unfortunately from IO91 I did not get any other transcontinental dx. A good contest and the first time in this event for me. 73 Andy G3SVD |

An exciting weekend and lots of stuff around, there was a lot of good DX who didnt appear to be taking part in the contest, all the same I heard quite a few contest stns calling the DX and effectively forcing a contest number on the DX, whether they wanted it or not, was I tempted to do the same, well I might have been but I didnt give in to the temptation, its also very unlikely that this will ever be won by a UK stn again (but thats for another discussion) |

Forcing a contest QSO on someone seems a little against the spirit of things(?) I found (CW) calling "CQ TEST" caused quite a few European stations to come back with "599 001" so many seemed quite happy join in voluntarily. [ edited ] |

My first UKSMG contest as a member, good sporadic openings all weekend, just a few quiet spells, made good use of my voice keyer in the pro III due to a sore throat on sat & sun. Thanks to all that called me or answered my calls, even worked E4X but he woudn't take a number hi hi, pity there was no opening to central america on sat night, had been before and after the contest but that's 6m. I agree with you Adrian about the need for some kind of recognition for highest Placed UK stations in each section. Equipment used here :- IC-756 ProIII, Acom 1000 & a H/B 7 element, 9.5m boom yagi up @ 18m. Hope to enter again next year so hear you all then. 73 de David MM5DWW IO89id #2704 |

How many stations have entered logs? I never had a number forced on me and if it would of helped someone in a contest even though i was not taking part I would give a number, I have in the past. I did not hear as many UK stations as I expected. The weather was good so many must have spent time with the family, tobe expected. Could a chart be madeup so we can all see which countries were worked and maybe how many stations from that country. The magicband can be very loanly on an island with no propagation about but exciting when there is. If anyone ever wants to operate from Cyprus for a change let me know as there is a house owned by a ham near me that rents it out cheaply and it has a big shared pool and is near shops and pubs. No other VHF contesters on the island. 73 Norman |
